New Delhi: Jomato and Swiggy, who deliver food to homes, have received a notice of violation of the Play Store rules from Google. Both the companies have received this notice to add features of the game within their app. On September 18, a few days before Jomato and Swiggy, Google removed digital payments company Paytm from the Play Store. Google accused Paytm of violating its sports betting activities policy. However, Paytm was reinstated on the Play Store only hours later. When contacted, Jomato confirmed the notice and called it ‘unjust’.
A Jomato spokesperson said in an e-mail reply, “Yes, we have received a notice from Google. We believe this is an unfair notice, but we are a small company and we have redefined our business strategy in line with Google’s guidelines. ” The spokesman said that the company will replace the feature of ‘Jomato Premier League’ from the second schedule by this weekend. However, no comments could be received from Swiggy on this development. The company has stopped its feature within the app and is in talks with Google on this issue. Google has not commented on this.
Many companies want to capitalize on the current Indian Premier League (IPL) opportunity. In such a situation, she is adding sports features to her app to woo customers and increase sales.
