New Delhi: Google is urging its employees to call back by ending work from home. For this, the company is reportedly offering electric scooter subscriptions to its employees in the Bay Area and several other locations in the United States. According to US media reports, Google has tied up with Unagi, an electric two-wheeler maker, to provide e-scooters to employees.
Reports suggest that to be eligible for the e-scooter, Google employees will have to come to the office for nine days every month. The tech giant will pay a $50 registration fee for each unit plus a $44.10 monthly fee for each employee. However, this electric scooter is not like the traditional battery-powered two-wheeler, but the Unagi Model One.
This scooter comes with a range of 25 km
The Unagi Model One is powered by two electric motors. It produces 1.3 hp of power and delivers 32 Nm of torque. It can run with a top speed of 32 kmph. Apart from this, it can be driven up to a distance of 25 km on a single charge. The introduction of these electric scooters could be a novel way to get employees back to work after a long work-from-home schedule, which first started in early 2020 during the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Getting offers to come to these offices
David Hyman, Founder and CEO, Unagi, said, “They (Google) know that employees are really accustomed to working from home and they are doing everything they can to make the coming back experience better. ” According to a report in The Verge, eligible locations include Google’s Mountain View headquarters as well as its offices in Seattle, Kirkland, Irvine, Sunnyvale, Playa Vista, Austin and New York City.
