New Delhi: Differences in the Ukraine conflict prevented the G20 foreign ministers from issuing a joint statement on Thursday, even as host India made sustained efforts to build a consensus. The Chairmanship Summary and Outcome Document were adopted in the meeting held under the chairmanship of India. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told a press conference that issues related to the Ukraine conflict came up in the meeting. Many diplomats said the Ukraine conflict has seen deep divisions between the US-led Western world and Russia-China.

Jaishankar said that views on the issue were divided into two poles. He said that at the meeting of foreign ministers, different views on the Ukraine conflict came to the fore. He said that no consensus could be reached on two paragraphs in this regard. The External Affairs Minister said that the outcome document of the G-20 reflects the resolve of the G-20 to deal with the current global challenges. He said that terrorism was categorically condemned in the meeting. Jaishankar said that it is our endeavor that the voice of the ‘Global South’ is heard. He said that consensus was reached on many issues in the meeting.
