New Delhi: If you have 2000 notes, then deposit them in the bank as soon as possible, because this 2000 note will now remain legal tender, but it will be taken out of circulation. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is going to withdraw the 2000 rupee note. The Reserve Bank of India has asked banks to stop issuing Rs 2,000 notes with immediate effect. RBI has said that the notes will remain in circulation till 30 September. That is, those who currently have 2000 rupee notes, will have to go to the bank and exchange them within the time limit.

The Reserve Bank of India has taken this decision under the Clean Note Policy. Now till 30 September 2023, 2000 rupee notes can be deposited in the bank. RBI said that from May 23, you can change or deposit 2 thousand rupees notes up to 20 thousand rupees at a time in your bank. A separate facility is also being made in the banks regarding the deposit of notes. For this, banks will have to open a special window. Apart from this, 19 branches will be opened for the exchange and deposit of RBI notes. RBI told in the press release that in 2018-19 itself, we had stopped printing Rs 2,000 notes.

Don’t consider it as demonetization: RBI
With the withdrawal of 2000 notes from the RBI, it has been made clear that this is not demonetization. This note is still running. These are completely valid and no one can refuse to take it before 30 September 2023. Before this date, you can exchange these notes in the bank in which you have an account or in any other bank also. It has also been advised to be aware of any rumors regarding this.

These notes were out of circulation on 8 November 2016
After the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 November 2016, all notes of 500 and 1000 rupees were no longer legal tender. In place of these currencies, the Reserve Bank issued new notes of 500 and 2000 rupees. Significantly, for the last several days, 2000 notes were hardly visible in the market. These notes were not coming out even in bank ATMs.
