The Ministry notified new health warnings on July 21, 2022, through amendments to the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008. The amended rules under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Third Amendment Rules, 2022 will come into force with effect from December 1, 2022.

The ministry said in a statement that any person directly or indirectly involved in the manufacture, production, supply, import, or distribution of cigarettes or any tobacco products shall ensure that the health warnings specified on the packets of all tobacco products are given exactly as specified. as has been prescribed.
