New Delhi: The Central Government has decided to provide free ration to the people covered under the National Food Security Act, at least till December next year. This decision of the government will benefit more than 80 crore people. Let us inform you that Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana) has been started in 2020 after Kovid affected livelihood.
Union Food and Public Distribution Minister Goyal said that under the National Food Security Act, the government gives rice at the rate of Rs 3 per kg, wheat at Rs 2 per kg, and coarse grains at Re 1 per kg. The government has decided that till December 2023 it will be available completely free of cost. This will benefit 81.35 crore people.
The government will bear the burden
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has said that giving free ration to the poor under the National Food Security Act will cost about two lakh crore rupees, the burden of which will be borne by the central government. This scheme (PMGKAY) was launched in April 2020. The duration of this scheme was extended for the sixth time in March.
Everyone from rural to urban benefited
Its objective is to ensure an adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices to that people live life with dignity, thereby providing food and nutritional security to the people. Under this law, 75 percent of the rural population and 50 percent of the urban population have got coverage, and are provided food grains by the government at very low prices.
The Central Government again revised the ‘One Rank One Pension Scheme’ on Friday. In this, earlier 20 lacks 60 thousand 220 pensioners used to get the benefit, from July 1, 2014, now its number will be more than 25 lacks. It has been approved by the cabinet.
