New Delhi: Swedish carmaker Volvo Car India has launched the first locally assembled unit of its first electric car XC40 Recharge SUV in the country. The electric SUV was today pulled out of the Hoskote manufacturing plant near Bengaluru. The XC40 recharge was first showcased in India earlier this year and was launched in July.
The XC40 Recharge is the first locally assembled luxury electric SUV to be rolled out in India, as the company aims to expand its portfolio of EVs for Indian customers in the coming days. Volvo’s first electric car XC40 Recharge in India has launched earlier this year for Rs 55.90 lakh. The electric SUV has received a lot of positive responses since the time of booking. Within the first few hours, more than 150 bookings were done for it.

All electric cars to be made in India
Volvo announced in May that it would start the local assembly of its all-electric cars in India. Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India said that the roll-out of the first locally assembled unit is a historic moment for the carmaker. He said, “Today’s event further reinforces our commitment to introduce a new electric model every year to the Indian market. The rollout is also the right step towards our goal of becoming a fully electric company by 2030.
