Wellington: The first American flight arrived in Antarctica on Monday after several months, adopting additional precautionary measures to avoid the Corona Virus. Antarctica is the only continent where there is not a single case of the virus and has launched a global effort to ensure that the scientists and staff who visit here do not bring the deadly virus with them.
A representative of the American Antarctic Program in New Zealand, Tony Jarman said that the US Air Force flight took off from the Gateway city of Christchurch on Monday carrying 106 passengers and crew members. He said that this flight was delayed by three weeks due to major storms. He explained that the crew members lived in isolation for four days in San Francisco and then in New Zealand for five weeks.
