Pune: A fire incident has come to light in India’s most popular electric two-wheeler Ola Electric Scooter. Ola S1 Pro is seen burning in a video that went viral on social media on Saturday. This video is being uploaded from the Lohegaon area of Pune.
In this 31-second video, it can be seen that flames are seen coming out of this scooter standing in a busy area. However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. But, it is being claimed that the fire in the scooter is due to some technical fault. It is being claimed on social media that this fire started due to short-circuit in the lithium-ion battery used in the scooter.
The lithium-ion battery is used in scooter
Let us tell you that it is difficult to extinguish a fire in a lithium-ion battery. When in contact with water, it immediately produces hydrogen gas and lithium-hydroxide. This turns it into an even more flammable hydrogen gas. The Ola S1 gets a 2.97kWh battery, while the S1 Pro gets a 3.98kWh battery. However, whatever the reason, a fire in an electric scooter like this is certainly a scary incident. Will scare future buyers who are thinking of buying an electric scooter.
Scooters were launched last year
Actually, Ola electric scooter is produced entirely in India except for the battery. Ola Electric launched both electric scooters in July 2021. During this, the company had received 1 lakh orders in just 24 hours. After this, the company started the delivery of this e-scooter in select cities from December 16. The first 100 scooters were delivered to customers in Chennai and Bangalore.
