New Delhi: Clashes broke out on Friday at Sindhu Border between protesting farmers and a large group of people claiming to be locals. To disperse the crowd, the police had to charge batons and fire tear gas shells.
Locals were demanding that farmers evacuate the protest site on the Singhu border as they said the protesters insulted the national flag during the tractor parade on Republic Day.
Meanwhile, officials said that a police station in-charge (SHO) of the Delhi Police was injured during a clash between agitating farmers and locals at the Singhu border demonstration site. A group of locals reached the protest site with sticks in their hands and started chanting slogans against the farmers and demanding them to leave. Both sides also pelted stones at each other.
