Mumbai: Famous actress Tabassum Govil is no longer with us. She passed away at the age of 78. Tabassum died due to cardiac arrest. Her son Hoshang Govil himself gave this information to the media on Saturday.

According to a news published in Indian Express, Tabassum’s son Hoshang Govil said, ‘She passed away on Friday evening. The family is shocked by his departure. She died last night at around 8:40 pm due to cardiac arrest in a hospital. She was absolutely healthy. We shot for our show 10 days back and were about to shoot again next week. It happened suddenly.

Famous actress Tabassum suffered two heart attacks last (Friday) night. She had the first heart attack at 8:40 and the second at 8:42. She was admitted to the hospital but could not survive. At the same time, her son Hoshang Govil said that she was cremated today in Mumbai. He also told that his mother had wished that no one should be told about his death before burial.

Tabassum was not only recognized as an actress, but she also made her own identity as a talk show host. Country’s first TV talk show Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan’ The credit for hosting the show goes to this actress Tabassum only. She hosted the show from 1972 to 1993, which gave him the opportunity to interview stalwarts of the film industry.

Tabassum Govil started her career in 1947 as a child artist Baby Tabassum. Tabassum started her acting career as a child actress opposite Nargis. She had worked in many films like ‘Woh Mera Suhaag’, ‘Manjhdhar’, ‘Badi Behen’, ‘Baiju Bawra’, ‘Tere Mere Sapne’, ‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’, ‘Swarg’. Even though Tabassum had worked in many films, she got famous from a show aired on Doordarshan.

Tabassum was best known for the program ‘Phool Khile Hai Gulshan-Gulshan’, this TV show aired on Doordarshan from 1972 to 1993. In this program, Tabassum used to interview film personalities and television actors and actresses.
