New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday issued instructions to the board examination centers to make appropriate arrangements in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation and heatwave conditions. CBSE’s Class 10 and Class 12 second-term board exams began on Tuesday after two years of pandemic disruptions in India and abroad.
CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, in a letter to the superintendents of the examination centers, said, “The Board has made a payment of Rs 5,000 for the day of examination and Rs 5 per candidate per day to make proper arrangements to avoid the spread of Kovid-19.” It is requested that all arrangements be made at the examination center as per the guidelines given to the center superintendents and the instructions of the concerned state government and the COVID-19 protocol may be strictly followed.”
“CBSE has also decided to pay Rs 2 per candidate per day for providing potable water, so proper arrangement of drinking water should be made at the examination center. Your personal intervention to make arrangements in the matter will help in maintaining better health of the students and staff.”
In the ongoing board exams, the number of students permissible in each class has been capped at 18 and schools have been asked to provide separate rooms for students suffering from COVID-19. Bhardwaj said, “CBSE has made elaborate arrangements for the conduct of examinations in India and 26 countries. As the examinations are being conducted post-COVID-19, the board has made all arrangements for its smooth conduction. Due to COVID, these exams are being conducted in April, May, and June 2022.
The class 10th board exam is being conducted at 7,406 centers, while the class 12th board exam is being conducted at 6,720 examination centers. Large parts of India are in the grip of scorching heat, with temperatures approaching 45 degrees at many places in the national capital. The heatwave is expected to become more deadly in the coming days. On Thursday, 3,303 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in India while 39 more patients died due to infection. The number of daily infections exceeded 3,000 after 46 days.
