Tokyo: Japan’s economy declined by 5.1 percent in the January-March 2021 quarter due to a decrease in government spending to reduce the outbreak of the Coronavirus epidemic. According to the Cabinet Office’s preliminary adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) data, household consumption fell at an annual rate of 5.6 percent during this period, while government spending fell by 6.9 percent.
In most parts of Japan during this period there was an emergency situation to prevent the coronavirus, where many restrictions were put in place to prevent the gathering of the crowd. Despite this, the number of diseases and deaths from Covid-19 is increasing in Japan among the slowest vaccinations in developed countries.

Only four percent of Japan’s population has received at least one vaccine of Covid-19. The world’s third-largest economy had managed to achieve growth in the previous two quarters before and was gradually recovering from the epidemic losses.
