Srinagar: A notorious terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The police gave this information.
Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, tweeted, “One of the oldest and most notorious terrorists of terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen, Mehrajuddin Halwai alias Ubaid, was killed in an encounter in Handwara. He was involved in many crimes related to terrorism. It’s a huge success.”
Police said that after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the Pazipora-Renan area of Handwara in the district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there on Wednesday morning. During this, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces and the operation turned into an encounter. Officials said the confectioner was killed in retaliation by the security forces.
