Moscow: International efforts to resolve the crisis arising out of Russia’s attack on Ukraine have started gaining momentum. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has now stepped into the role of mediator to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine. He has met Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. No specific information has come out about the meeting of the two leaders, which lasted for about 3 hours. However, before leaving for Berlin, Bennett spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr on the phone.

Israel’s PM Bennett’s visit to Moscow is also considered important because Israel is considered an ally of America. Israel also does not consider Russia’s military support being given to President Bashar al-Assad in Syria right. This meeting of Bennett and Putin was possible because Israel has so far kept its stand soft against Russia. An Israeli official said that Bennett is sharing his efforts to resolve the crisis with the US, France, and Germany.

His spokesman said that after the meeting with Putin, Bennett went to Berlin to hold talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Whereas French President Emmanuel Macron spoke to Bennett before going to Moscow to give information about his talks with Putin. An Israeli official said that Bennett would be in touch with everyone for the purpose of bringing about a ceasefire.

This is President Putin’s second meeting with the leader of a foreign country since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Putin met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Kremlin on the same day that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began. Later Imran Khan said about his Moscow visit that ‘my foreign policy is independent and visits to China and Russia will prove beneficial for Pakistan in future.
