Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the State Government had informed the Centre of its objection to the draft Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) Notification 2020 today.
Mr Vijayan said that the draft will have long term adverse impacts.
The State had registered its objection of reducing the time for hearing complaints under the new draft and also in the provision related to query permit.
The Sate suggested to make mandatory environment clearance for query permission of over 2 hectares.
It was also put forward that the District level Environment Impact committee to be continued and to have discussion before final notification. It was also requested to consider the special condition of Kerala in the draft.
