New Delhi: The central government on Friday approved Indian airlines to fly up to 45 percent of the total capacity of their domestic airlines before the Coronavirus epidemic. The civil aviation ministry had approved operating the domestic passenger service from May 25 after the service was suspended for nearly two months due to the lockdown implemented to control the coronavirus epidemic.
However, airlines were allowed to fly only one-third of their number before the Corona era. The ministry, while amending its order issued on May 21, said on Friday, “One-third capacity should be read as 45% capacity.” Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted on Friday that 18,92,581 passengers traveled to different parts of the country in a month since the domestic flight service was approved in the country.
