Washington: In a tragic incident in Arizona, the US, three Indian-origin citizens, including a woman, died after falling into a frozen lake. The accident occurred at Woods Canyon Lake in Coconino County on December 26 at 3:35 p.m.
The victims were identified as Narayan Muddana (49), Gokul Mediseti (47), and Harita Muddana, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said in a statement on Tuesday. All three were residents of Chandler, Arizona, and were originally Indian. Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix.
Officials said they pulled out Haritha but could not save her and she died on the spot. The bodies of the three deceased have been recovered. According to a statement issued by the CCSO officials, “Personnel deployed at a substation in the area were called to the spot after two men and a woman fell into the frozen lake when they were walking on a frozen lake.”.
More than one million people in the US and Canada are facing severe winter. The blizzard is wreaking havoc in an area of more than 3,200 kilometers from Quebec to Texas, causing many people to suffer. At least 19 people have died so far in storm-related incidents.
