Washington: The cases of Covid-19 in America are seeing a rise again after months of decline and the number of new cases is doubling every day in the last three weeks. The reason behind this is the rapidly spreading delta variant, the low rate of vaccination and the crowd gathered on Independence Day in America.

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, the number of infection cases increased by 23,600 in a day on Monday as compared to 11,300 on June 23. Cases of infection have increased in the last two weeks in two states, Maine and South Dakota. Dr. Bill Powderly, co-director of the Infectious Disease Division of the School of Medicine in St. Louis, University of Washington, said, “It’s no coincidence that we’re seeing a spike in cases right after Independence Day weekend when we have It was expected to happen.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the five states where coronavirus cases have increased the most in two weeks have lower vaccination rates. These five states are Missouri (45.9 percent), Arkansas (43 percent), Nevada (50.9 percent), Louisiana (39.2 percent), and Utah (49.5 percent). Health authorities in places such as Los Angeles County and St. Louis are also urging vaccinated people to wear masks again in public places as cases of an infection increase.

Chicago officials announced on Tuesday that those arriving from Missouri and Arkansas will have to undergo 10-day isolation or show a test report for non-infected people with COVID-19 who have not been vaccinated. Meanwhile, the Department of Health in Mississippi has begun blocking posts about COVID-19 on its Facebook page due to “increasing misinformation” about the virus and vaccines.

Mississippi officials are also advising people 65 and older to avoid large gatherings indoors as the number of hospitalized patients has risen by 150 percent in the past three weeks. A Louisiana health official said that cases of coronavirus are increasing more among people who have not been vaccinated.
