Bengaluru: The team of Madhya Pradesh has created history. The team of MP has won this year’s title by performing brilliantly in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22.
In the final match played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, MP defeated Mumbai by six wickets to win the Ranji Trophy. Earlier in the year 1999, under the captaincy of Chandrakant Pandit, the team of Madhya Pradesh reached the final. But, they were defeated by Karnataka by 96 runs. The special thing is that Chandrakant Pandit is currently the head coach of the MP team.
Mumbai had lost their 8 wickets in the opening session of the fifth day of the final match of the Ranji Trophy 2022. Due to this Mumbai could make 269 in the second innings. Saved Parkar scored 51 runs for Mumbai in the second innings. Apart from Saved, Sarfaraz scored 45 and captain Prithvi Shaw scored 44 runs. Kumar Karthikeya took the maximum of four wickets for Madhya Pradesh.
After playing the second innings of Mumbai, there was a target of 108 runs in front of Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, the team of MP easily achieved this goal. Himanshu Mantri scored 37 runs in the second innings for MP. On the other hand, Shubham Sharma and Rajat Patidar played innings of 30-30 runs.
The special thing is that in 87 years of Ranji Trophy history, the team of MP was playing in the final for only the second time. At the same time, the team Mumbai, which was the 41-time champion of the Ranji Trophy, was playing the 47th final match.
