Abu Dhabi: Chris Gayle, the West Indies explosive opener, wants the latest and shorter format of cricket – T10 – to be included in the schedule of the Olympic Games. Gayle, who is representing Team Abu Dhabi in the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, feels that T10 is a format that can advance cricket’s entry into the world’s biggest sporting events. From his home in Jamaica, Gayle said that he is eager to participate in the tournament.
He said, “I am resting at the moment which I need but keeping in mind the Abu Dhabi T10 League, I will start some training soon and will be ready to play.” After two seasons, he is making a comeback in the league and he is very happy.
“There are a lot of talented players who will be in it like Kieron Pollard and other international players,” he said. He said, “So I am definitely happy to be back in Team Abu Dhabi. Chris Maurice of South Africa is also in my team and I have played with him before also so it is good to return to play with him and other players. ”
Talking about the future prospects of T10, Gayle said, “I would love to see T10 in the Olympics.” It will be a big thing for the game from a normal perspective. “
He also said, “I also think T10 may be in America as well. I think most people do not recognize America for cricket but T10 is suitable for getting inside America and I believe it can also help in getting big revenue.
