New Delhi: Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, the outgoing president of the Wrestling Federation of India, and Vinod Tomar Singh, the assistant secretary of the federation, got a big relief in the sexual harassment case registered based on the complaints of the wrestlers. Is. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday granted regular bail to both of them. Along with this, orders have been given not to leave the country without permission.
According to the information, the court has granted bail to Brijbhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar Singh on a personal surety bond of Rs 25,000 each. However, while granting him bail, the court has also imposed several conditions. The court said that the accused shall not directly or indirectly induce the complainants or witnesses and shall not leave the country without the permission of the court.
Earlier, the court had reserved the decision on the regular bail plea of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in this case till 4 pm. During the hearing, the public prosecutor, representing the Delhi Police, told the court that the accused be tried as per law and certain conditions be imposed on the relief being granted. When the court asked the prosecutor whether he was opposing the bail plea, he said, “I am neither opposing nor supporting.” “The application has to be disposed of by the law and the order passed by the Supreme Court,” he told the court.
The counsel appearing for the complainants opposed the application saying that the accused is very influential. He told the court, “Bail should not be granted. If this is allowed, then strict conditions should be imposed. Witnesses have been contacted from time to time, however, there is no threat.”
The counsel for the accused told the court that he would comply with all the conditions. The defense counsel told the court, “There will be no threats, etc. The law is very clear. He should be given bail. I promise to abide by the conditions.”
Significantly, a hearing was held on this matter on 18 July. In which Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar were granted interim bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court.
