Vadodara: At least 11 people were killed and 16 others injured in a head-on collision between a mini truck and a truck on the outskirts of Vadodara city in Gujarat on Wednesday morning. All the casualties were aboard the mini truck. The police gave this information.

Vadodara Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Karanraj Vaghela said that the incident took place at Vaghodia Circle between Tuesday and Wednesday night at around 3.45 pm. All these people were going to Pavagadh of Panchmal district. The city’s SSG hospital said in a statement that 11 people, including five women, died in the incident while 16 others were being treated at their hospital.

“The dead included 10 passengers and a co-driver of the vehicle,” Vaghela said. He informed that the driver of the mini truck injured in the accident is undergoing treatment. On the Surat-Vadodara highway, while passing through Vaghodia circle, he lost his eye due to which he lost control of the vehicle. The mini truck then hit the other truck from behind, the DCP said. The FIR has not been registered in the case yet.

Rupani tweeted, “I am very saddened by the news of death of people in a road accident near Vadodara. The authorities have been instructed to help in every possible way. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. May the souls of those who lost their lives find peace. Om Shanti. ”

Vaghela said that all the victims were from Varachha area of ​​Surat city and were going to a famous religious place in Pavagadh of Panchmahal district. Some families of Varchha had hired mini trucks to visit the temples located at Pavagadh, Vadtal and Dakor (Kheda). The official said that he started his journey from Surat around 11 pm on Tuesday night.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the death of about 11 people in a road accident and condolences to their families. He said that the local administration was providing all possible assistance to the spot.
