New Delhi. The two armies clashed between India and China on the Ladakh border late Monday, in which an Indian Army officer and two soldiers were killed. An official statement issued by the army said that during the de-escalation process in the Galwan Valley, the two armies were confronted last night in which our soldiers were martyred. These include one Indian Army officer and two soldiers. Senior military officials from both sides are meeting to reduce the current tension. Some TV reports are claiming that soldiers on the Chinese side have also been killed in this violent clash. Also, it is being claimed that there has been no firing in this clash.

After the deadlock began early last month, the Indian military leadership had decided that Indian troops would take a tough stance to deal with the aggressive style of Chinese troops in all the disputed areas of Pangong So, Galwan Valley, Demchok and Daulat Beg Oldi.

The Chinese Army has been gradually increasing its strategic reserves with the LAC and has brought cannons and other heavy military equipment there. The reason for the start of the current deadlock is the sharp opposition by China to the construction of an important road in the Finger area around Pangong Soo Lake. Apart from this, China is also opposing the construction of another road connecting Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi in Galvan valley.

In Pangong So, the road in the Finger area is considered important for patrolling by Indian soldiers. India has already decided that it will not stop any of its border infrastructure projects in eastern Ladakh due to Chinese opposition. The soldiers of the two countries clashed in Pangong So area of eastern Ladakh on May 5 and 6. Soldiers of both sides were injured in this incident. About 250 soldiers from India and China were involved in this clash. In another similar incident, on May 9, about 150 Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed near the Naku La Pass in the North Sikkim sector.
