BEIJING: The debris of a rocket recently released by China has increased the risk of falling back to Earth. In the next few days, this debris is ready to fall on a large part of the earth.
About 23 metric tons of debris from the Wentian rocket, which was launched with the help of a Long March 5B rocket on Sunday from the Wenchang Launch Center on Hainan Island, is moving back towards Earth.
According to the California-based Aerospace Corporation, the debris of a Chinese rocket could hit the Earth in an uncontrolled situation on July 31. According to Aerospace, the debris is also likely to come from America, Australia, India, Africa and South Asia.
However, China has ruled out any such possibility. According to the Chinese state media Global Times, distracted by China’s growing space power, America is spreading false propaganda.
The Global Times wrote that America now has nothing left to slander after failing to stop China’s development in space.
Likely to fall in a populated area
Aerospace said that due to the uncontrolled debris, the possibility of its falling in a populated area cannot be ruled out. According to the organization, 88 percent of the population comes under the threat of space debris.
China is monitoring
Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told the media that China is monitoring the possibility of the wreckage of the rocket falling back to Earth. He further said that this debris will end up burning as soon as it enters the earth’s atmosphere.
Zhao said that Chinese scientists have prepared their space mission keeping in mind the mitigation of debris.
