Biging: The Chinese Embassy in Kabul on Saturday urged its citizens in Afghanistan to strictly follow Islamic customs. This includes a dress code and eating in public. Significantly, Taliban leaders had also recently visited China. The Global Times reported that in an advisory issued to all Chinese nationals, the embassy has also suggested that they keep a distance from Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport and other chaotic places.

Last month, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with a Taliban delegation in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin. During this, he said that Afghanistan can adopt a moderate Islamic policy.

Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen said on Thursday that China would be welcome to contribute to the reconstruction of Afghanistan. He said that China has played a constructive role in promoting peace and reconciliation in the country. In an interview given to China’s CGTN television, Suhail Shaheen said that China is a big country with a huge economy and potential, I think they can play a big role in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan. Unlike Russia and the US, China may be able to take advantage of the fact that it has not fought in Afghanistan to deal with the Taliban.
