Beijing: China is not shying away from its actions. China is similarly angry with Taiwan over its friendship with the United States. Meanwhile, new news has come out that it has warned of war, accusing Taiwan of preparing to declare independence. Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said that Taiwan’s independence means war. The ministry also said that its armed forces are always ready to respond to provocations and foreign intervention. Recently, Chinese fighter jets have stepped up their incursions into Taiwan’s airspace, leading to tensions between the two countries.
A Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman said that a handful of people in Taiwan were demanding independence. We warn those elements who demand Taiwan’s independence that those who play with fire will burn themselves, and Taiwan’s independence means war. China believes that Taiwan’s democratically elected government is moving towards a declaration of formal independence. However, President Tsai Ing-wen has already stated that Taiwan is already an independent country, called the Republic of China. The Chinese Ministry of Defense reiterated that Taiwan is an integral part of China.
Respond to foreign provocations
Asked about the recent activities of the Chinese Air Force, Yu Qian said that the military activities of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in the Gulf of Taiwan are an attempt to maintain the current security situation and take necessary action to protect national sovereignty and security. He also said that the activities of the Chinese military are a response to foreign provocations in Taiwan’s independence.
