Beijing: China is shocked to see America and Taiwan together once again. China has been enraged over Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen’s US visit. Its People’s Liberation Army has started military exercises near the Taiwan border. PLA’s Eastern Theater Command announced that China is starting a 3-day military exercise around Taiwan today. The Chinese army has deployed 13 Chinese aircraft and 3 warships around Taiwan. Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed this.

According to the report of the news agency AFP, Taiwan’s President Sai Ing Wen met the Speaker of the US Lower House, Kevin McCarthy, in California on 5 April. It was the first time a Taiwanese president met an American speaker on US soil. China had warned that it would not be right if Taiwanese President Sai Ing Wen met the American speaker. Now its military exercises are said to be the result of Taiwan’s closeness with America.

Officials from Taiwan attended McCarthy’s meeting with the United States. He expected a less severe reaction from China when he joined it, but he also said that he could not rule out the possibility of more exercises by China. China calls Taiwan its territory and does not want America to interfere in this matter. Here, Taiwan considers itself an independent country and America also supports it. This is not the first time China has faced problems due to the growing friendship between Taiwan and America.

Sai Ing Wen met the Speaker of the US Lower House

In August last year, when the then Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, came to Taiwan, even then China launched live-fire missiles around Taiwan. When Pelosi was in Taiwan, then only the sounds of explosions were heard. Even at that time, China had strongly objected to this and threatened Taiwan. However, Taiwan did not bow down to China’s threat. President Joe Biden has also said on several occasions that America will protect Taiwan’s sovereignty and will not hesitate to help Taiwan against China’s aggression if needed.
