Beijing: China has set a growth rate of more than six percent for 2021. China’s Prime Minister Li Qing made the announcement on Friday in the country’s National People’s Congress (NPC). China has also raised the defense budget to $ 209 billion, a 6.8 percent increase from the previous year.
On the increase in the defense budget, NPC spokesman Zhang Yesui told reporters here that China’s effort is to strengthen national defense, not to target or pose any threat to any country. China’s economy grew at a rate of 2.3 percent in 2020, the lowest annual economic growth rate in the past 45 years.
