Raipur: An Assistant Commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been killed and seven others injured in a landmine blast in the Naxal-affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Bastar Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said on Sunday, “Naxals detonated a landmine in the forest near Tadmetla village under Chintalnar police station area of Sukma district. Nitin P Bhalerao, Assistant Commandant, 206 Cobra Battalion, CRPF, was killed and seven others were injured in the incident. ”
Total 10 personnel were injured & one died in an IED blast in Sukma, Chhattisgarh last night.
Earlier on Saturday night, police officials had informed that five jawans were injured in the incident. “CRPF personnel were sent on patrol in Chintalnar area,” Sundarraj said. Security forces personnel were in the forest of Tadmetla village around 8.30 pm on Saturday when the Naxals detonated a landmine. Eight people, including Assistant Commandant Bhalerao, were injured in the incident. ” No shootings were reported during the incident, he said.
The Inspector General of Police said that five jawans were injured in the incident on Saturday. It was later learned that three other jawans were also injured in the incident. He said that after getting information about the incident, the injured jawans were taken out of the forest by helicopter and sent to Raipur for treatment. Sundarraj said that out of the injured, Assistant Commandant has died and seven other injured jawans are being treated at a private hospital in Raipur. The police official said that the operation against Naxals is going on in the area.
