It is being told that the name of the person who has been arrested is also included in the list of those who were mentioned in the threatening message.
On Saturday night, the Mumbai Traffic Police received a message on a WhatsApp number threatening a 26/11-like attack again in Mumbai. Photos and numbers of some suspects were also shared in the WhatsApp message. According to sources, the arrested person is a resident of Uttar Pradesh. His number was tracked by the investigating agencies in Virar.
Maharashtra ATS and Mumbai Police are interrogating him to find out why his number and identity have been used by the person making threats and what is his connection with the case. Let us tell you that it was said in the threat that there were 6 companions in India to carry out this work. Police have also registered an FIR in this matter at Worli police station.
We six people will attack
Officials said that one message said that six people would attack, while another said that preparations have started to blow up Mumbai, which will remind of the 26/11 attack. City Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar said at a press conference on Saturday that after receiving the message, the state’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and city policemen have been asked to remain alert.
Threatened to blow up the city
Phansalkar said, “Police received messages late on Friday night, threatening that 26/11-like attack would happen in Mumbai and the city would be blown up. The messages also mention 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab and Al-Qaeda’s (slain) leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.”
“It has also been mentioned that some of his associates are working in India. Prima facie it appears that the code of the number from which the threat messages were sent is from Pakistan.
“We have taken these messages seriously. Necessary steps are being taken to check the threat messages. We are vigilant about coastal security and are coordinating with the Coast Guard.”
