New Delhi: Brixton Motorcycles, the British brand known for its neo-retro designs, has officially made its debut in the Indian market with a lineup of four highly anticipated models. In partnership with KAW Veloce Motors, Brixton is set to launch an exclusive range of motorcycles tailored specifically for Indian riders, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion strategy.
In an exciting announcement earlier this year, Brixton confirmed the launch of two 1200cc models the Cromwell 1200 and Cromwell 1200X, along with two 500cc bikes the Crossfire 500X and Crossfire 500 XC. Now, the company has opened pre-bookings for these models through its social media channels, allowing eager buyers to reserve their bikes with a token amount of Rs 2,999.
Tailored for India: Cromwell and Crossfire Series
The Cromwell and Crossfire series are designed to cater to a diverse range of riders, from city commuters to off-road adventurers. The Crossfire 500X, a classic-inspired roadster, is built for urban streets, offering a smooth and stylish riding experience. Its sibling, the Crossfire 500 XC, is a scrambler built for light off-roading, equipped with rugged tires and extended suspension travel for enhanced performance on uneven terrains. Both models feature a 486cc twin-cylinder engine that delivers 47 bhp and 43 Nm of torque, making them powerful yet versatile options for Indian roads.
At the top of the lineup, the Cromwell 1200 and Cromwell 1200X set a new standard in premium motorcycling. The Cromwell 1200 is a stylish roadster designed for long-distance rides, while the Cromwell 1200X is a scrambler with an off-road-oriented design, featuring greater suspension travel and a more rugged build. Both models are powered by a 1,222cc twin-cylinder engine, producing an impressive 82 bhp and 108 Nm of torque, offering top-tier performance for adventure-seeking riders. The KYB suspension system adds to the premium feel of these flagship models, particularly the 1200X, which is built for challenging terrains.
Manufacturing in India: Local Production and Expansion Plans
In a bid to meet the growing demand for premium motorcycles in India, Brixton has also revealed plans to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The plant, developed in partnership with KAW Veloce Motors, will cater to local production needs and ensure that the motorcycles are adapted to Indian conditions. This facility will have an annual production capacity of over 40,000 units, aiming to introduce Brixton’s range of 500cc to 1200cc motorcycles to the Indian market in a phased manner.
These motorcycles, designed at Brixton’s Austrian design center, reflect the brand’s renowned neo-retro design philosophy, which continues to dominate the premium motorcycle segment worldwide. Brixton’s focus on blending vintage aesthetics with modern engineering has struck a chord with enthusiasts, and this entry into the Indian market is set to further expand its fan base.
Expanding Retail Presence: 15 MotoHaus Showrooms by Year-End
Brixton is also aggressively expanding its retail network, with plans to launch 15 MotoHaus-inspired showrooms across India by the end of 2024. By 2025, this number is expected to grow to 50 outlets. The initial cities targeted for this expansion include Pune/PCMC, Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Cochin, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vapi, and Panjim, ensuring Brixton’s presence in key urban and regional markets.
Phased Expansion: Brixton’s Two-Step Plan for India
The partnership between Brixton Motorcycles and KAW Veloce Motors outlines a two-phase expansion strategy. In the first phase, the joint venture will focus on establishing a production facility and introducing the existing range of motorcycles, which includes engine capacities from 500cc to 1200cc. The second phase will involve further expanding manufacturing capabilities and introducing new models, specifically designed for Indian roads and rider preferences.
With the Indian motorcycle market growing steadily, Brixton’s entry, backed by local manufacturing and a robust retail network, positions the brand as a strong competitor in the premium two-wheeler segment. As the pre-bookings commence, the buzz surrounding the launch of the Cromwell and Crossfire models signals a promising start for the brand in India.
