He said that the state government needs more quantity of medicines for its treatment. Tope said this in Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with 17 district magistrates of Maharashtra.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan also attended the meeting. Tope, while making demands for the state, said that the need for drugs and oxygen such as Remadecivir has stabilized due to the decrease in cases of Covid-19 and mucormycosis remains a major concern in Maharashtra at the moment.
On Wednesday, Tope told reporters that Amphotericin-B, a drug used to treat mucormycosis, is deficient in Maharashtra and the state has received only 16,000 vials of the drug from the center, while the requirement is one to one and a half to two lakh vials.
After the meeting, Tope said, “I have informed the Center that mucormycosis is a primary concern before the state government.” There is a need for more allocation and supply of Amphotericin-B medicine due to its high number of cases in the state. ”
