New Delhi: After the murder of mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh, the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken a major step regarding the safety of journalists. The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to make Standard Operating Procedure ie SOP. In fact, the attackers who killed Atiq and Ashraf had disguised themselves as journalists and entered the midst of media persons, and carried out the incident as soon as they saw the opportunity. Under the SOP, during media coverage, journalists can get comprehensive protection from the government and there will be some security criteria that they will have to follow.

This Standard Operating Procedure being prepared by the Ministry of Home Affairs will be for the administration of all the states and union territories. Sources said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Ministry of Home Affairs will prepare SOP for the safety of journalists. He told that this step is being taken after Atiq and his brother Ashraf were murdered by three assailants posing as journalists in Prayagraj. Ahmed and Ashraf were killed on Saturday night when they were talking to journalists.

During this, both the brothers were shot at close range. The incident took place when Atiq and Ashraf were being taken by policemen to a medical college for a medical examination. Section 144 has been imposed in the entire state after the murder of Atiq and Ashraf. Along with this, the police administration is in alert mode.

Police on Sunday morning registered an FIR naming three accused in connection with the murder of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed (60) and his brother Ashraf Ahmed on Saturday night. Police said that the Inspector-in-charge (SHO) of Dhumanganj police station of Prayagraj, Rajesh Kumar Maurya lodged an FIR at Shahganj police station. According to the registered FIR, an FIR has been registered against Lavlesh Tiwari (Banda), Mohit alias Sunny (Hamirpur), and Arun Maurya (Kasganj-Etah) in the murder of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf.
