New Delhi: A month before Diwali, the government showered gifts on government employees. Central government employees, who have been hoping for a long time, will now get a Dearness Allowance of 38 percent.
In the meeting of the Union Cabinet today, it was decided to increase the DA by 4 percent, which is the highest in the last dozen quarters. Earlier, the average DA has been increased only by 3 percent, but this time in view of the impact of inflation, the government opened its treasury. Now 50 lakh central employees and 62 lakh pensioners will get DA of 38 percent. The increased amount of DA will be valid from July this year and the arrears of the previous months will also be given to the employees.
The Union Cabinet had in March approved a 3 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) under the Seventh Pay Commission. In this way, DA has been reduced to 34 percent of the basic pay. After the increase in DA, the salary of the workers will increase between Rs 6840 to Rs 27,312.
Dearness Allowance (DA) is given to central government employees, while Dearness Relief (DR) is given to pensioners. The government revised the DA in March this year, which then increased by 3 percent to 34 percent of the basic salary of an employee. If there is an increase of 4 percent in DA, then the DA has increased from the current 34 percent to 38 percent. At present, government employees used to get 34 percent DA on their basic pay.
Other big decisions of the cabinet
In other decisions of the cabinet, it was also announced to give a big bonus to the railway employees. Modi government will give 78 days bonus to these employees. The discussion was also held in the meeting to extend the facility of free ration under the Garib Kalyan Yojana till December.
DA was increased simultaneously to 11 percent
In July last year, the Modi government increased the dearness allowance of employees by 11 percent in a lump sum. After this, the effective dearness allowance was increased from 17 percent to 28 percent directly. In fact, during the Corona period, the government had frozen the dearness allowance for three months, which was released in July last year. The government had frozen the dearness allowance for January 2020, July 2020, and January 2021.
How much increase in salary
After increasing the DA by 4 percent, this time there will be a big increase in the salary. Suppose the basic salary of an employee is Rs 40,000, then after increasing DA by 4 percent, his salary will increase by Rs 1,600 every month. In this way, the total increment in the year will be Rs 19,200.
