Agartala: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Tripura’s Unakoti district. During the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath at Kumarghat here, the chariot collided with a high-tension electric wire on the way. Due to this current spread in it. 6 people have died in this accident, while 15 people have been injured. Due to the incident, there was chaos in the area. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. This incident happened around 4 pm.

Police said that the incident took place during the ‘Ulta Rath Yatra’ of Lord Jagannath. During the festival, it happened in the Kumarghat area around 4.30 pm. During this festival, Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath return to their main temple after a week of Ratha Yatra. Police said the chariot made of iron was being pulled by thousands of people when it came in contact with a 133 KV overhead cable.

Assistant Inspector General (Law and Order) Jyotishman Das Chowdhary said that six people died on the spot and 15 others suffered burn injuries. He said that the injured are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. His condition is stated to be critical, officials said.
