Biden’s efforts to re-engage the United States in the Paris Climate Agreement are urgent

Washington: Newly elected US President Joe Biden discussed his decision to rejoin the historic Paris Agreement on the first day after taking office at a climate policy meeting and discussed climate change. He said that it is essential to take steps to deal with change.

Biden reiterated in a digital meeting Monday with staff from the Departments of National Security and Climate Change that he wants to make tackling climate change a top national security priority, the newly elected president’s office said in a statement.

Biden said it was important to move towards the goal of tackling climate change. Newly elected Vice President Kamala Harris also joined Biden at the meeting. The meeting discussed ways to meet Biden’s broad and ambitious climate commitments.

The newly elected president’s office said a number of issues were discussed on the first day of Biden’s office, including his decision to rejoin the Paris Agreement. The United States formally seceded from the Paris Climate Treaty on November 4. U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention in 2017 to separate the United States from this landmark agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
