New Delhi: Police today removed barricades outside the British High Commission in Delhi and the High Commissioner’s residence, days after pro-Khalistan protests at the Indian High Commission in London. Apart from barricading outside the High Commission, the police van was also removed. However, Delhi Police officials said that security is intact outside the UK High Commission.
According to the information received, the Delhi Police had set up 12 barricades here, which have now been removed. At the same time, the security deployed outside the residence of British High Commissioner in India Alex Ellis has also been removed. According to the news agency PTI, a senior police officer said, “Security is intact outside the British High Commission here. However, the barricades installed on the road leading to the Commission have been removed, which was obstructing traffic.
The British High Commission declined to comment on the matter. A spokesperson for the High Commission said, “We do not comment on security matters.”
