In a significant development, internationally acclaimed wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have officially joined the Congress party today. Before their induction, the athletes met with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Following this meeting, the Congress party held a press conference to announce their new members. The event was attended by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal and spokesperson Pawan Khera.
Vinesh Phogat’s Fiery Critique of BJP
Upon joining the Congress, Vinesh Phogat expressed her gratitude towards the party. She emphasized that challenging times reveal true allies, recalling the Jantar Mantar protests against Brijbhushan Singh. Phogat highlighted that while they were being mistreated, all parties except the BJP stood by them, with the Congress offering unwavering support. She vowed to bring the same dedication to her political career as she did to wrestling. Phogat also criticized the BJP’s IT cell, stating that her new journey with Congress marks the beginning of a continued fight.

Bajrang Punia echoed similar sentiments, thanking the Congress for their support. He criticized the BJP for their lack of assistance during difficult times, contrasting it with the consistent support from Congress. Punia accused the BJP’s IT cell of celebrating Vinesh’s defeat, while the rest of the country mourned.
Resignation from Indian Railways
Before they met with the Congress President, Bajrang Punia resigned from his job with the Indian Railways. He shared this decision on social media, expressing his gratitude for the memorable and proud moments he experienced while serving the Railways. He stated, “At this juncture of life, I have decided to separate myself from the railway service and have submitted my resignation to the competent officials of the Indian Railways.”
Speculations on Election Candidacy
Two days before joining Congress, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia met with Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. This meeting fueled speculation about their potential candidacy in the upcoming elections.
