Avalanche hits Darchula

Kathmandu: An avalanche occurred in the Darchula district of West Nepal on Tuesday. In which at least 8 people are feared to be buried. This information has been given by the police. An armed police force team along with police is deployed on the spot. Rescue work is on.

Darchula district Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa told news agency ANI that eight people who had gone to collect Yarsagumba (Caterpillar Fungus) are suspected to be missing. A search operation has been started. But still no success.

According to information, the incident took place at Bolin of Vyas Rural Municipality-1 at 1:45 pm. The Yarsagumba gathering people were staying in a tent. But an avalanche destroys the tent and everyone gets buried. The identity of the said people is yet to be ascertained. The investigation is on.

It may be noted that last month, seven tourists were killed in a massive avalanche in the Nathula area of Sikkim. Whereas, more than 20 tourists were rescued.
