Londan: Scottish author Douglas Stuart, based in New York, received the 2020 Booker Prize for his first novel, Shuggie Bain, on Thursday.
The story of ‘Shaggy Ban’ has a Glasgow background. The first novel ‘Burnt Sugar’ by Avni Doshi, an Indian-origin author based in Dubai, was also nominated in this category. A total of six novels were nominated.

“I can’t believe it,” Stuart said. Shaggy is a fictional book, but writing a book has been very healthy for me. ” He said that he has dedicated this book to his mother. The 44-year-old writer was 16 when his mother died of excessive drinking. After graduating from the Royal College of Art in London, he moved to New York to pursue a career in Fashion Designer.
