Kuwait City / Beijing: The postponed Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8 in 2023. The Asian Olympic Council (OCA) announced this on Tuesday. The 19th season of the Asian Games was scheduled to be held from September 10 to 25 this year, but the Games were postponed to May 6 this year due to the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in China.
In a statement issued here, the OCA said, “The task force has held extensive discussions over the past two months with the China Olympic Committee (COC), Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC), and other stakeholders to find an appropriate time to organize the Games.”. The holding of these games was to be kept separate from the dates of other major international sporting events.
According to the statement, “the dates recommended by the task force were duly approved by the OCA EB.”
