Washington: America’s IT sector and business groups, including veteran IT companies such as Google and Apple, have praised the new President Joe Biden’s immigration reform. Companies say the move will boost the American economy, create jobs and attract the best talent from around the world.
Biden sent an immigration bill to Parliament
Biden sent a detailed immigration bill to Congress on the first day of his term. The bill proposes a comprehensive revamp in the system, including granting citizenship and legal status to tens of thousands of refugees deprived of documents and reducing the waiting time of families waiting for green cards.
Indian IT professionals will get relief
This bill, named the US Citizenship Act of 2021, proposes to modernize the immigration system. In this, it has also been proposed to remove the maximum number of employment-based green cards for every country. Thousands of Indian IT professionals can get relief from this step.

In a tweet on Thursday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai praised Biden’s swift action on Kovid relief, Paris climate agreement and immigration reforms. India-born Pichai said, “Google has supported the steps taken on these important issues. Google is ready to work with the new government to help America overcome the epidemic. ”
Tim Cook welcomed Biden’s move
Apple CEO Tim Cook welcomed President Biden’s move. He said in a statement released late on Wednesday, “This effort will strengthen the path of long-drawn opportunities by American communities and this country.”
Significantly, American IT companies like Apple, Gagool and Microsoft employ large number of IT professionals from countries like India and China.
