New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare will no longer fast against Farm Laws. Anna Hazare has taken this decision after meeting former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Kailash Chaudhary. Anna Hazare’s office said that in Friday’s meeting it was decided that a committee comprising of the Ministry of Agriculture, Policy Commission, and some members recommended by Anna Hazare would make a proposal in the next 6 months to implement/meet the demands of the farmers. Kailash Chaudhary and Devendra Fadnavis today requested Anna Hazare not to agitate, which Anna has accepted.

About two weeks ago, Anna Hazare wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reiterated his decision that “he will go on a final hunger strike in Delhi at the end of January on the issue of farmers.” He said without giving a date that he would start fasting by the end of the month. Earlier, on December 14 last year, Hazare had written a letter to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar warning him that if his demands, including the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan Committee on Agriculture, were not met, he would go on a hunger strike. He also demanded that the Commission be given autonomy for agricultural costs and prices. Hazare had said, “I have corresponded (with the Center) five times on the issue of farmers but no reply has come.”
