
New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), India’s prestigious technical educational institute, has rained job offers worth crores of rupees on students in just 6 days of the placement drive. If the officials of the institutes are to be believed, then this year has been very special in terms of getting jobs for the students. From the total offers of jobs to the package of crores, the IITs of the country have presented record figures. Apart from this, a significant increase was also registered in the number of International Offers in IITs to students last year after being hit by Covid-19.
According to the Economic Times report, 307 companies made 1142 offers in IIT BHU till Monday afternoon. Whereas, in IIT Kanpur till Saturday, this figure was at 940. These include 47 international offers. IIT Roorkee received more than 1000 offers including 32 international ones. The number of offers crossed 1300 in IIT Kharagpur and 625 in IIT Guwahati. In IIT Madras, students got 1208 chances including 231 pre-placement offers.
In Kanpur, Roorkee, Kharagpur, and Varanasi IITs, the number of packages of more than one crore has crossed 80. At the same time, this time the students got more international opportunities than last year. This year there were more than 220 international offers from IITs Kanpur, Madras, Roorkee, Guwahati, and BHU. The number of international offers at IIT Madras jumped by 181 percent to 45. Last year this figure was 16. International offers increased from 6 to 28 at IIT Guwahati with a rise of 366 percent. At the same time, in IIT Kanpur, this number increased from 19 last year to 47. The special thing is that IIT BHU received 35 international offers this year as compared to zero last year.
More than 75 percent of students who have registered for campus placements in IIT BHU have already got jobs. IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar said, “It is one of the best years ever in terms of placements. One of the given. There is a lot of demand for tech talent in the sectors. Be it agriculture, retail, infrastructure… every sector is using modern-day technology in some process. This demand has increased due to the pandemic.

Abhishek Kumar, head of the Center for Career Development at IIT Guwahati, said, “Compared to the last three years, we have received the highest number of international and domestic offers this year.” Growth has been seen over the years.
According to ET, after about 6 years, this time a package of more than Rs 2 crore has made a comeback in campus placements. The biggest international offer has crossed the Rs 2 crore package mark. At the same time, the package went up to Rs 1.8 crore in the domestic package.
