Air India site crashes while booking tickets under Vande Bharat Mission

New Delhi. The third phase of the Vande Bharat Mission started by the government to bring back the Indians trapped abroad due to the Coronavirus crisis in the world has started. For the third phase, Air India started booking tickets at 5 pm on Friday, but the site crashed for a while due to the simultaneous arrival of millions of people on Air India website.

Air India started booking tickets for select cities of US, Canada,

and Europe on Friday under the third phase of Vande Bharat Mission. Air India tweeted on Saturday that under the third phase of the Vande India Mission, booking of tickets for select cities of US, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe started from 5 pm on Friday evening. Our website saw 6-7 times more traffic and 22,000 tickets were sold till 8 am on Saturday.

It is noteworthy that under the Vande Bharat Mission, Air India and its associate Air India Express started operating special international flights from May 7 to return the country to Indian citizens. The first phase ran from May 7 to May 16, followed by the second phase. Between May 7 and June 1, the Air India Group operated a total of 423 flights and 58,867 Indian nationals were brought back to the country.
