Thiruvananthapuram: Dr. Ani S. Das, a well-known agriculture expert, passed away during a live show on Doordarshan channel here on Friday, January 12th. The incident occurred during the channel’s Krishi Darshan program at around 6:30 pm.
According to sources, Dr. Das was participating in a discussion when he suddenly became silent and leaned back on his chair. The anchor of the show immediately stopped the broadcast and called for medical assistance. Despite the best efforts of the channel staff and doctors, Dr. Das could not be revived and was declared dead at the hospital.
Dr. Das was 59 years old and held senior positions such as Managing Director of the Kerala Livestock Development Board (KLDB) and Executive Director of the Center for Bioresources and Agricultural Services. He was also a professor at Mannuthi Communication Center of Kerala Agricultural University and often participated in agriculture-related programs on Doordarshan as an expert.
The reason for Dr. Das’s sudden death is currently unknown, and there is no information about whether he was suffering from any serious illness. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, and the news of his passing has shocked the agricultural community.
