Johannesburg: South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa closed some of the country’s most popular beaches, banning control of infection cases in a worsening second wave of Corona Virus infection. And has announced strict enforcement of the rules.
“If we do not take immediate action, given the rate at which new cases have increased in the last two weeks, the second wave will be more severe than the first wave,” Ramaphosa said in a TV broadcast on Monday evening. Daily reported cases of Covid-19 infection in South Africa have doubled to 8,000 in the last 10 days, which the President has described as a concern.

“During this period, the number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection has increased by almost 50 percent and the number has increased from 100 to over 150,” the president said. Ramaphosa said, “For the first time in the epidemic, new cases of infection are coming up among the youth, especially the teenagers of 15-19 years.”
He cited the lack of protocol at major ceremonies and parties as to the biggest reason for increasing cases of coronavirus infection. The President said that existing alert first-level restrictions will be strictly enforced throughout the country during and after the festive season, including wearing face masks, maintaining social distance, and cleaning up on managers of public transport, buildings, and shops Will be the responsibility. He said the beaches and public parks would be closed from December 16 to January 3 for a period of the festive season.
