
Guwahati: Assam is struggling with the outbreak of African swine flu. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday ordered the killing of about 12,000 pigs in areas badly affected by African swine fever and asked the authorities to give adequate compensation to the pig owners. This information was given in an official statement.
A senior official of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department told that 18,000 pigs have been killed in 14 districts of the state so far due to the virus. The official said that the work of killing the pigs will be done in a radius of one kilometer in 30 affected areas in 14 affected districts, and this work will be started immediately.

Covid-19 infection kills 578 people in Assam so far
On the other hand, the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday said that the number of Kovid-19 tests in India has crossed the figure of 6.6 crores and as on date, the number of samples tested per 10 lakh population has reached 48,028. With this, the figure of infection in the country is 8.52 percent. The Health Ministry said that 14 states and UTs including Gujarat, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Assam, Haryana, and Tripura are doing well against Kovid-19, where the rate of infection is below the national average and per 10 lakh The number of investigations on population is high.
The ministry said that Kovid-19 testing capacity has increased significantly in the country and it has now exceeded 12 lakhs every day. A total of 6,62,79,462 samples have been tested until 22 September. Of these, 9,53,683 samples were tested on Tuesday.
A total of 159320 cases of corona virus infection have been reported so far in Assam. Of these, 129130 people have become healthy by defeating Kovid-19 infection. Which means that there are still more than 30 thousand active cases of corona virus in the state. While so far 578 people have also died in the state due to corona infection.
