Katni: A major accident took place in the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday evening. The soil of the tunnel of the Narmada Valley Project in Sleemanabad here got submerged. 9 laborers including the supervisor were buried under it. The local administration and SDERF team have rescued seven laborers. The Home Department is monitoring this entire matter live from the capital Bhopal. State chief Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself is taking updates from moment to moment from the officials.

Instructions have also been given to conduct an inquiry in this matter. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took cognizance of the incident in Slimnabad of Katni. He discussed the incident with the Katni collector on the phone and inquired about the incident. He is constantly in touch with the Katni district administration and is taking information about the rescue operation. Let us tell you, this incident happened at around 7:30 pm on Saturday evening during the construction of an underground tunnel being built for the canal on the right bank of Bargi. The soil of the tunnel sank and 9 laborers were buried in it. Out of these, 3 laborers were taken out safely at the same time. The rescue operation is currently going on here.

It is worth noting that as soon as the news of the accident was received, many officers including Bahoriband MLA Pranay Prabhat Pandey reached the spot. Collector Priyank Mishra told that the SDRF team has reached Katni. ACS Rajesh Rajoura and other top officials of the Home Department are also monitoring the rescue work from the Situation Room in Vallabh Bhawan (Ministry).

Green corridor built for the injured
Collector Priyank Mishra said that an advanced life support ambulance has been installed. To take the injured to the hospital immediately, a green corridor has been made up to Jabalpur Medical Hospital and Katni District Hospital, so that the laborers can be evacuated and taken to the hospital soon. According to the collector, 8 people are residents of Singrauli.
